Serving the Diocese of Corpus Christi
(3/30/20) This event has been CANCELLED based on the recommendations by the CDC, the City of Corpus Christi, and the Diocese of Corpus Christi.
Corpus Christi Lay Dominican Chapter meets on the third Saturday of each month at 3:45 p.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary School (St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church), 2233 Waldron Road in Flour Bluff.
We are in the same Dominican Order as the Friers (priests), brothers, nuns, and sisters of St. Dominic. We follow the same rules, guidelines, prayers, etc as the order. The chapter belongs to the Southern Dominican Laity Province of St. Martin De Porres, New Orleans, LA., as do all the chapters in the state of Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
As Dominicans, we strive to live this vocation to holiness by living within the elements of Dominican life based on Prayer, Study, Community, and Apostolate - the four pillars of Dominican Spirituality. Each Lay Dominican member contributes to the chapter and to his/her ministry according to their gifts given by the Holy Spirit.
Come and meet with the Corpus Christi Lay Dominican Chapter. Candidates and inquirers for formation will meet with two groups. There will be: a meeting and study; read about saints; read the encyclical on the Vatican website and Study the Bible. As a community, we pray the Liturgy of the Hours and the Rosary at the Chapel before dismissal. We are under the spiritual guidance of Sister Claudia Ongpin, O.P., of the Religious Missionary Sisters of St. Dominic.
If you are a practicing Catholic of two years or more, we invite all men and women, single or married, 18 years of age and over, visit with us. Our chapter is accepting Inquirers ( those interested in discerning membership) in September 2019. For more information call President, Linda Beardsley, O.P. at (361) 442-8515; or Vice-Pres. Yvonne Youngblood, O.P. at (361) 853-1924; or the Formation Director, Mary Castillo, O.P. at (361) 888-4123. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
