Earlier today, Dec. 14, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Corpus Christi received a threatening phone call made to the church office. Due to the close proximity to the parish office and as an additional precaution, the schools at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and their staffs were placed on lock down.
Additionally and as the result of a recommendation made by the Corpus Christi Police Department, after-school programs at Central Catholic, Christ the King, Holy Family, St. Patrick, St. Pius X, Most Precious Blood and Bishop Garriga Preparatory School have been placed on lockdown. Parents have been notified.
“The Diocese of Corpus Christi holds the safety of its students and staff in the highest priority, and it is grateful to CCPD for its immediate and continual response in this matter. The Diocese takes such threats seriously, and as this is an open investigation, cannot provide further details at this time,” Marty Wind, the spokesman for the diocese, said.
