Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey, will preside over the blessing and opening ceremony of the Mother Teresa Shelter’s Multi-purpose Activity and Therapeutic Center on Oct. 26, at 9:30 a.m.
The center will offer art and music therapy, exercise and team sports, educational assistance and gardening to the homeless.
The center, located at 513 Sam Rankin Ave. in Corpus Christi, will provide games and a basketball court that will help relieve mental stress, small computer labs which will provide some educational tools and rooms for counseling and diabetic training for homeless clients.
The $285,000 center is a community project made possible by funding from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, the city of Corpus Christi’s Community Development Block Grant program, the John G. and Marie Stella Kenedy Memorial Foundation and the Earl C. Sams Foundation.
